The story of the government employee who was fired for being a transsexual
and for wanting to have a sex change operation has been going around lately.
Well, there's not much I can add to it; but I will anyway.
Maybe it's the English side of me, but I don't have any problem with men
who want to change into women. Or who just want to dress up as them. Sure,
it's a little on the odd side for a straight guy like me. But there are stranger
things by far in the world.
What I will say here is that I admire the guy's guts. Any time anybody
has the courage to just be themselves and to hell with what other people
think, well, those people certainly get kudos from me. Because I think
we all know how tough it is to do that in a society that, for the most
part, just wants to put people in nice neat little packages.
And maybe, in context, I shouldn't have used the word "packages." Oh
Just your ordinary guy next door.
More or less.
