Well I would never have known it if I hadn't gone
downtown yesterday, but evidently today is
National Talk Like a Pirate Day.
This be the day all we normally landlubbin' gents
and ladies can pretend we's sailin the seven seas
grabbin up booty and burnin' stuff ta the ground.
Meself, I plan to be waylayin and boardin
some fine ship or nother, and holdin some fair
lady for ransom. But not, of course, bufor
havin my evil pirate way with her! This bein
in the pirate trade what we call "perks."
The poor lass that I plan to be perkin'.
And of course I would get me ear bit off and
maybe me nose cut off by me fine lass crew
if I didn't include a good artsy thing of
Captain Jack — though he's not the pirate
I am I must admit he'd make a pretty good
cabin boy for me first mate Angeliki and
numerous other of ta crew. So here ya go.
And, in case you missed the excitin tale the first
time around, ya can read all about me lusty pirate
adventures in the Caribbean. Though this tale doesn't
include any perkin', it's still a good tale!
[/ALIGN]
I understood about a 40% of this ๐
Hah. Bein' ina diffr'nt time zone is sometimes usefull!Me salty sea dog, I also be takin' part in this scallywagin'.I made a post on my blog to mark the ocasion a while ago. And a special scene with the characters from my graphic novel. It's an interesting idea. Something to break the monotony.I also like the charities that are going around.Oh, and – Yarrr!
The pirate talk is a highly specialized way of talkin, needin' years of concentrated chore and the drinkin of grog!:)
PS your writing and presentation is impeccable!!!Happy Day :pirate: !!!!
Ya's a man after me own heart. Aye.
:lol:don't expect me with my Greek/French accent and "radio soft voice" to speak as a pirate, it will be a total waste ! ๐
Aaarrgghhh! Me thanks to ya, lassie! :pirate:
๐
after seeing about 4 of the same subject posts ,I can tell you this is a superior entry by far!!!Maybe it is because of Scarlett,ORmy Johnny!!I love him!
Yul Brynner didn't sound like this in the movie about Jean Lafitte I saw the other night.Wish he had.
Well… If it isn't that confounded scoundrel Jack Sparrow again! It is true, I have genuine viking-blood running in these very veins, but I am no pirate. A wee cottage on the moore would suit me much better than boats and canons. I prefer cats from parrots. Robbin', sackin', spoilin' and rapin' was never my game… Depredation and plunder might have been the trade of my ancestors, but I'd rather peel potatos than pillage. I tear my hands as I tear the soil, get bruised and battered like any pirate, but no magistrate will ever put a robe 'round this neck.
 Jack Sparrow…. mmm
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
@ Angeliki. I think that would make you the perfect Greek/French/soft-voice pirate then! There are too few of those roamin the seven seas.@ Star. I saw that movie recently. He makes a very good pirate. The funniest pirate movie I ever saw was called The Crimson Pirate with Burt Lancaster. @ Martin. Spoken like a good retired pirate…yeah, I know your history! Aaarrrggghhh!@ Isabel. I'm sure that you and Angeliki can work out some mutually acceptable arrangement for perkin' poor Johnny. No fighting amidst the crew! Or ye be walkin the plank!
Just a little update on me whole waylayin plan. I just heard from me spy in Martinique that the fat Danish ship The Mute Swan will be goin through the Trinidad-Tobago strait this very day, loaded with gold and jewels and Miss Scarlett. And unless there be some huge hurricane move into the Caribbean, and I hardly think that be likely, I will be countin and perkin by midnight. Aaarrrgggghhhh!
:up:It actually looks very much like you!
A slogan? I didn't hear anything about a slogan.
Me thanks to ya, good Martin!
thanks!!I just realized my contest entry did not come through!any way my picture was part of it ๐ with a slogan that I will not reveal for contest purposes…. :heart:Thanks for the update!! XX A
Ahhh… The Swan! Finer vessel never roamed the blue fields. I shall be anticipating your report, Cap'n Piercy!
๐  Well said, brave Martin.
ahhhhhhh the lies of the sea….The sea, the sea: calling out to you and meWaves rush in to caress the sandOnly to roll out again ..
Beware, ya must, of feminine splendor. Even the finest of pistols are sad artillery against the powers of emerald eyes and ivory skin. And sooner as your steel leaves its scabbard, her lies would have reached the cabin of ya heart… Beware, I say, beware…:D
I will take it under consideration…but the lure of Miss Scarlett is great…perhaps too great for any man to resist! :pirate:
By the way, give my regards to Commander Andersen of The Swan, if you happen to cross his way. And keep ya'r wits on top, if ya do, 'cause his rapier has grown a healthy thirst for the blood of rogues and pirates. My honest advice would be to rather be on your way than to cross blades with that one, Cap'n!
I did a quiz that one of my friends had in his pirates Day posts ๐
here it is my name:
try yours it is fun!
My pirate name is:
Dread Pirate Rackham
Like the famous Dread Pirate Roberts, you have a keen head for how to make a profit. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

I think I did that once and it came out boring. But I did it again and here it is…
My pirate name is:
Black Morty Rackham
Like anyone confronted with the harshness of robbery on the high seas, you can be pessimistic at times. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

:lol:I bet my last penny you don;t know that two pirates with the same name have to fight for survival! :lol:just see the name above your comment box! ๐
My pirate name is:
Mad Charity Flint
Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Fighting wouldn't bother me so much as if you were my sister — uh oh.
I just had to try that. It said I'm nuts.Go figure.:lol:
:lol:Star, one being a pirate had to be a little unique! I can not imagine the dangers , the risks, the loneliness all these men did experience,ALL that I sure did not lead to a stable mind! now taking the quiz (me included..) it is another story … ๐
๐
Not that anyone cares, but here's mine.
My pirate name is:
Bloody Morty Rackham
Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

I'm seein' trouble up ahead, what with the fightin' for survival. ๐
It seems that if we were pirates, most of us would be related. Star, it also said you were "sparky." Not sure exactly what that is, but it sounds interesting!
Well my addition to the bunch is not sharing a last name, although I actually am related to one of you ๐
My pirate name is:
Mad Davy Kidd
Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

Yep, Edward, I'm sparky! Maybe I oughtta change my name to Sparky. Remember those fireworks we played with as kids, the "sparklers"? That's what it is–I flash up real pretty-like, and fizzle out before anybody is ready for it.And, Quinnuendo, welcome to my world.
๐
She'd make a fine figurehead at the prow of my…Sorry… That pirate speaking day is over, isn't it?
She certainly seems in shape. Must be all that rope climbing. ๐

My pirate name is: Black Ethel Flynt

What is it with you women and Johnny Depp? Even my whife gets this dimm look in her eyes every time she finds his picture in a magazine. I don't get it. He's just a guy, for Christ's sake. It's annoying, because as a man I would prefer if the 'charmer' was someone that could touch my pride and selfesteem in a manner that would encourage me to work on becoming a better man myself. A rolemodel. Someone with outstanding and extraordinary qualities. But Johnny frigging Depp? He's just a guy… You have to work on your standards, girls! Even the guy that collects my waste bin every wedensday has more personality than the Depp Dude!I'm not blaming Johnny, though. He's a good acter, and I'm sure he's a cool guy. But, you girls… You can do better!:D
:lol:I feel the same way about Scarlet Johansen !! :down:women see things differently than men, we are wired this wayJohnny = perfect!
