It´s never too late to live in the present
I met him once at a mall opening in Longview, Texas. It was the dead of summer and Mr. McMahon was really suffering in our Texas heat. He performed like a trouper anyway.
Yeah, he was wearing a suit, too, and was there for 2 days. Didn't take long for him to lose his tie, though. One of the celebrities was the actress who played blind Mary in Little House on the Prairie. She suffered from slight heat stroke while she was there and had to miss one of her appearances.
Thanks, L. I can just imagine all that in the summer heat there.
I'll give you a link, Darko. But the fast skinny was that he was mainlya TV personality who wore many hats; he did do some movies, though. Hewas best known for being Johnny Carson's sidekick on The Tonight
Show and as host of Star Search (kind of the predecessor ofAmerican Idol). Here's the Wikipedia
link.
I'm gonna miss this guy. Always smiling, always cheerful.:rip:
I don`t know him. Was he an actor?
A new Simon Mall opened in Longview, the first "under one roof" there, and there were numerous celebrities who were there for the opening events. Benjie the dog was there too. These people either spoke or performed. Ed McMahon did a kind of standup routine. There was a hot air balloon race instituted that day (he went up in one of the balloons) and that race is still held in this area every year as a result of that first one.
That's very cool. Was he in a show or something?
He was kind of like an institution, yeah? I can't remember a time when he wasn't around.
