Mr. Johnson with his bear.
Jeremiah Johnson, a 48 year old mountain man living in a remote area of
Utah, has now been counted by the 2010 United States Census.
Johnson's mountain cabin was discovered using Google Maps. With no way
to mail a census form to that residence, door-to-door Census pollster
Henry Burke was sent in to get the information.
"It was tough" Burke said afterwards. "I had to fly in to Salt Lake City.
Then I had to rent a jeep and drive the 100 or so miles into the mountains.
From there I had to snowshoe in the last 30 miles. But it was worth it. This
demonstrates the ideals of inclusion that the current Administration stands
for."
Burke described Johnson as being "not unfriendly but a bit distant."
"I asked him if he had seen the new Sherlock Holmes movie. He just said,
'I been to a city once.'"

My "mountain cabin" has a parking lot outside my window. Damn city people! :pThe resemblance to Redford really is uncanny. Maybe they are related somehow. And now that I think of it, that bear looks awfully damn familiar too. 😆

In Denmark we have a lot of small islands where you can go and never be found. Some of them are veritably resorts for people who don't really fit in anywhere else. The island of Taasinge in the South Funen Archipelago is inhabited by village idiots (and I mean that literally). A normal person would be considered something of a curiousity. PS: I spend two years living on Taasinge. 😉

You are welcome. We have islands without roads or schools or churches or anything of the normal civilised stuff you'd expect whereever there's human life, and people are still living there. They would get their groceries once every week with the ferry or go to the mainland (or one of the bigger islands) in small boats to shop. Most of them have small farms where they grow special things, for example organic and echological farm products, or they would be artists, writers or something of that sort. Some islanders make their livelyhood on tourism only – rent out summer residences to Germans or other outlanders and sell them souvenirs and junk.Seriously, I think you would like living on a Danish island. You'd easily find one of your taste, I'm sure.After all, Denmark is an archipelargo.
