Coming back from Idaho I have noticed several
sites along Highway 27 that store dirt for use
in construction projects. I know that Spokane
has a site like that on the west side, but that
seems to provide sand for concrete, not dirt.
So, I was thinking that (if I had the money)
that I could start my own dirt selling place
here closer to Spokane.
Technically speaking it wouldn't be a true Emporium at
first, as I would be selling only dirt. But I hope to
expand if things take off.
What do you think? Yeah?

Uh oh. It seems I already have some competition. Damn!Well, Everything In the Dirt is a good name. But I think my Dirt Emporium is better.
😆 One man's dirt…
Exactly! These kinds of things fascinate me, how many ways there are for people to have a business and make a living. Here's one that I like very much. They used to be Spokane Hose and Pump. But I guess too many people over the years objected to the name. 😆
darn if the writing is artistic ,even selling dirt looks good! :lol:I wish I had your brains for one day!
😆 Yeah well my brains seem to have made 2 typos. :pI'm on a dirt kick. More dirt to follow tomorrow!:D
w00t! the more dirt the better!
ahahahahahahahaha then my job here is done! 😀
:lol:I feel so dirty all of a sudden. :p
Edward, you have entirely too much time to think. The way your mind works never ceases to amaze me. I have been told over the years that when it comes to business, you should find your own niche and start providing a product or service that no one else does in your town or area. Off-the-wall businesses have always fascinated me. I'll have to see if I can come up with an example because none comes immediately to mind. But the people who do these specialty products or services usually become very comfortable in their lifestyle if not wealthy.

And I guess comparisons of modern hunter-gatherer peoples have born that out. So I guess they had too much time to think also. To do things like develop new tools, or invent the wheel. :pThese days we mostly depend on specialization of labor to provide products and enable us to live "in the manner to which we have become accustomed." I'm going to say something on that in the next posts. In any case you are right about the niche thing — narrow the specialized field so that it can provide some service and make a profit. And of course some people just invent whole new areas. That's possible too.

:p your thoughts will be a light to my thinking ……. :p
I don't know, Angeliki. I'll have to think about all that and get back with you later. :p
I could use some dirt. What are your delivered rates, Edward?:D:lol::heart:
funny, you should mention that. my shopping list starts with 'more dirt' (for my patch of garden).about twenty years ago, we paid $90 a yard for topsoil. now that's primo dirt of course. 😎 you can get rich if you have dirt. or you could find someone with dirt they don't need and make a deal for their dirt. 😆
@ StarI'll check with UPS and get back with you. :DSo hey, were you able to crash cart that garden back to life? Sure hope so.@ ScottI imagine it could be very lucrative. I mean, if a piece of land is just sitting there, and could be leased, and if there were no environmental reason the track shouldn't be opened — then it's pretty much like gold sitting there.
exactly. there's a lot of rich soil in your area. just skim it off and it's a goldmine.
Nah, Edward. The garden didn't make it. The infamous "Plant Murderer" stikes again!:lol:No matter what I tried, it just would not live. 'S okay, though. I learned a lot, so next year I might have a chance. And the friend that named me "The Plant Murderer" has a gorgeous–and extremely bountiful–garden. She's sharing her tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers with me this year.:heart:
Ahhh, sorry to hear that.:rip:Next year!
Digging in the dirt? 😀
