Spent New Year's Eve last night at home with a couple
bottles of beer and the Marx Brothers film festival on
TCM. Probably no better way to bring in the new year
than with a good laugh or two. Or, in this case, dozens
and dozens of laughs.
Here's the famous mirror scene from Duck Soup.
Mrs. Teasdale: But I saw you with my own eyes!
Chicolini: Well who you gonna believe, me or your
own eyes?

Oh yeah, totally. The cabin scene is my favorite Marx Brothers scene. Saw that movie last night too. IMO their best movie.
The crowded cabin scene from 'A Night at The Opera' always makes me laugh. Shere genious.
Or the scene where Groucho and Chico are discussing that contract with the 'party of the first party'-gibberish and Chico stumbles over the sanity clause… 'You can't fool me, there aint' no sanity clause!' Priceless.
Harpo is the one who gets to me. A true clown of the old school — not like these they have these days. And I always look forward to the scenes where he plays the harp. :DYou know with regard to harps, or at least the chromatic harps, I just don't see how anybody can play those things. Amazing stuff.
I'm with you on the harp thing. I fondled an orchestral harp once and it takes excessive force to make the strings say anything, almost like a contrabass. Hurts your fingers too. And it's always girls playing them. I don't get it.
I don't remember what I did on New Year's Eve. Probably watched something on TV, but not sure what.Watched Dallas reruns all afternoon and evening on CMT on New Year's Day, though. That Lucy character was a mean little witch.
