A typical Dallas-type winter day here in Spokane:
Cold rain.
I hate cold rain. It makes my body ache all the way through.
Much better to actually have colder temperatures and snow.
That somehow doesn't feel nearly as bad.
On the positive side, I had a little windfall today. Only
last night I was wishing I had one of those sparkly type hair
bands that are used for pony tails and such to bind up the
cloth wrap of my new bow rosin when I get it. Well taking
out the trash this morning I happened to look down at the
steps of the back entrance to the building and, lo and behold,
there was that exact thing, laying right there. Amazing!
So I think tonight I will wish for a bag full of lots of
money. Hey, couldn't hurt, right?
[/ALIGN]
let me know if that works.there is a little of syncronicity about your hair tie experience.i was flat broke a few months ago and found two twenties wadded up together on the sidewalk. but i had no premonition of 'help from above'. :happy:also, yes, i know that washington cold rain feeling only too well. that's why i am here in sunny california now. 😎
It is snowing here and is probably equally humid as in Spokane. But I did one smart thing while being in Vancouver – bought myself active long underwear :P
We have the same weather. The first picture looks exactly as if it was taken just outside where I live. Only we also have around zero temperatures and there's still ice everywhere. A thin layer of hard ice and some rain, and the simple act of walking is an ordeal.I am officially 36 percent walking-impaired, according to the measures of the Danish hospital standards. I wouldn't know the international equivalent. To put it short, one of the ligaments of my left knee is missing, and I walk with a limb. This means that I can't use the auto-pilot programme that people normally use when keeping balance. Well, it is there, somewhere in my cortex, but it is designed to operate a fully functional body, so I can't rely on it. To me, every single step is an act of will. Even on dry grounds.Icy surfaces makes walking 100 yards a hard job. Even though I have had this limb for seven years, it's still a tough deal.
:coffee:Warm is good!:coffee:

Ah well that's the way it was today when I went to the grocery — one step falling on water, another on slush, and then on ice. Treacherous. But of course I don't have your leg/knee problem. I just take baby steps and hope that I don't fall on my ass. Here's wishing you the best in treacherous weather. :wizard:
I have that same achy feeling during a cold rain. Soaks into the bones. On the flip side of that, a day of cold rain is a very good excuse to have a long soak in a hot tub of water. Therapeutically necessary. And, of course, we have to have aromatic bath oils, bubbles and little rubber duckies. Of course. Also therapeutically necessary.:D:lol::heart:

I have a bathtub but I think I've only taken showers for like the past 25 years. I used to relax in the tub occasionally though — good during my work days for relieving stress. I don't know about duckies. I would prefer army men and toy boats. Have a little skirmish going on. A squirt gun is good, the proper squirt gun you can knock those soldiers right off the edge of the tub. :pOops, I gotta go take a nap. I need to be up by 6:00 to practice.
Wishing you a particularly large bag of money! :DThat does look like a rather bleak day, I must say!
@ Richard. And it doesn't quite help that it is the desolate view out my back door. :lol:BTW, do you remember a post you did quite a while back about the power pole? Well I was looking out the bedroom window the other day and noticed that the power pole that's located pretty much immediately in back of the garage you see in the photo, I swear it has 10 power lines going into it. And it is crooked — add another 4 support cables. OMG! I'm just glad that thunderstorms are so rare here! :p

yes. we had a few mudslides in the 'burn' areas. but if anything we need the rain for the reservoirs. :up:the 20s, i immediately felt guilty and looked around, had a moment of furtive glee seeing no one noticed my windfall. then i felt sorry for the owner of the pocket it jumped out of. his loss, my gain. lesson: always put bills in wallet. 😎

Sunny California? Last time I heard it was raining Biblical proportions down there. :pThat was some good luck about the 20s.
I normally don't carry much cash at all with me these days unless I go over to the Reservation to get smokes. I use my card. Of course I could lose my card… :p
Same here in Jogja (Indonesia), it's always rain from 2pm to 10pm and the wind is very cold. Not a nice season though.
@ Yeni.Interesting, as I thought it was Summer in the Southern Hemisphere. Is that typical?
You know that climate change is going to make the temperate zones drier and hotter, and the equatorial zones wetter and cooler. I hate to think about it, but I think that in 50 years places like Thailand (and possibly Indonesia) it's just going to rain continuously — and I mean 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Like a continuous monsoon.
Well, yes, it's rain season here, normally it would be ended in the next March or April. But who knows, the climate has changed 😀

Sounds very much like Bradbury's 'The Long Rain'. That, and Ballard's 'The Drowned World' are two of my favorite stories. And I wonder why I have watery dreams…
Yes Richard, amazing how much of what those writers did is coming true. And you know I think that what they predicted in a pessimistic way has been the case more than what they predicted in an optimistic way. Like that post on 2001: A Space Odyssey I did a while back. I wonder why that is? Is it just a knowledge of human nature?

I suspect it's exactly that.
UDATE:Yesterday I decided to take the trash out to the dumpster. It was raining again. Well, I got out to the dumpster and lifted the lid and threw the bag of trash in. And then I happened to look down. And there on the pavement next to the dumpster was another hair band — a gold one this time. What the hell are the chances of that happening twice in a row?No bag of money, just another hair band. I guess the only way I could hope to make any money at this point is to write a short story — a fairy tale — and put it here on the blog and then Steven Speilberg will drop by and see it and offer to pay me a bunch of money for the story rights for his next movie. :pI think I'll call it, "The Magic Golden Hair Band." For obvious reasons. :)In any case, I put it in my violin case along with the blue band I found.
@ Devans.:D Good luck with that!
Money?Think I'll buy hairband stocks…………. :coffee:
yeah. and it should make the lucky owner able to leap from continent to continent…. and be invisible.
@ Scott.Damn right it should! I mean, what good are magic hairbands otherwise?@ Star.Well, I'm blessed and lucky as Natalie Merchant wrote. BUT a few little extra blessings besides hair bands, I could go for that! But what I got was hair bands. Sort of a strange fate! 😀
Lucky hairbands. We should all be so lucky that we get just what we need.
Cold rains make me feel miserable too. I remember a few years back we had rain for many consecutive days and I couldnt help but think of people who live in regions where this is the norm.I seriously don't think I could adapt to those conditions.Pretty colored-hair bands. Maybe the universe is sending a sign of some sort?Put some blue in your life when you want: calm and relaxation to counteract chaos or agitation to open the flow of communication to broaden your perspective in learning new information solitude and peace Put some gold in your life when you want: increased personal power relaxation and enjoyment of life good health success Just a thought :p
how about one of those hats with the light in the visor… i heard they really help. too bad you can't ship sunlight because we have plenty all year round.i think that's the main reason why i left washington state… i can remember 60 days in a row with continuous rain. :faint:
@ Mags. And there is also the very great benefit of black and pink. :p@ Scott. Interesting hat, but can I get the hat model too? You know she kinda looks like Erin Gray of the old Buck Rogers in the 21st Century series.
nice figure.
slightly cross-eyed isn't she? but i like those proportions… yep 😎
Killer eyes. The photo doesn't do them justice.
Looking into the camera a little bit weird, I'll say that. Try this one…http://auntiefashion.wordpress.com/2010/01/07/happy-birthday-erin-gray/
why she's as american as apple pie. 🙂
