Sophia Gubaidulina's concerto In Tempus Praesens was
written for violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. Mutter gave
the work its premier performance at the Lucerne Festival
in 2007 and recorded it the following year on
Deutsche Grammophon.

Mutter does things in this performance in terms of tonal
palette that I never knew or even imagined could be done
on the violin. So much so that I am sceptical that the work
could ever be played by anyone else nearly as well — it
just seems so distinctly Mutter's own creation as well as
that of Gubaidulina.

If you love the violin, you will love this performance.
