My thanks to classmates.com for
making me feel about a hundred years old.
:p
Me, Edward Piercy, with a lot of hair.
And big thick glasses.
My girlfriend, Melanie.
Melanie played the flute in the orchestra,
I played violin.
The girl just to the left of her is Corinne, the
concertmistress of our orchestra.
Me on the Exercise in Knowledge Team.
I missed making National Merit Finalist by 10
points — that damn math!
The end of the day at Southport High. I think we
had to qualify as the messiest school in Indianapolis.
But with 3000 students walking the halls, it didn't
take much.
I would give a year of my life just to go back in time
and roam those halls for one day.
That is so cool. Or far-out, man.:lol:I picked up my old yearbook not too long ago. Looked through it. Wouldn't go back.My high school is about 15, 20 miles from here. Went to a few basketball games about two years ago with my brother. Same old gym. Same old smells. Same old sounds. Was kinda fun catching up with some people I used to know.Yeah. Some of the people I used to know were sitting in the bleachers in the same old places.Kinda sad.Haven't been back. But the old rock buildings were pretty cool.

That was then. What about now? That is, however, my own sentiments when I stumble upon an old photograph of myself. Posted a few on my Opera Weblog too. Those old photographs are weird stuff, you know. Images from the past. Evidence. Some of them support memories, some don't. And you are left wondering about how little you really remember.
I remember that line from the movie Strange Days — "Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason."It certainly isn't good to get hung up on the past. But I guess the way I look at it, I have an interest in History, and the things from my past are part of my Personal History. We need to live in and value the present. But some things are best seen in retrospect, because we don't always see things clearly in the present tense — through a glass darkly. Or at least some things, a lot of things. When I was in high school I didn't like it much. I was just waiting to get to college. But today I can look back and see the good things in it, see more clearly. Originally posted by Aqualion:
I like your use of that word.
That's a lot of hair :left: :PAs you've said, it would be nice to walk through the high school's halls again. I never went to my high school after 1988. The closest I got was only few times when I was passing by in a nearby street. I wish I went there just once, for fun. But when you live in a same city where you went to high school (or the same area) you don't think about that too much.Originally posted by Stardancer:
Mine is 7500 miles now :left:

Perhaps the next time you go back for a visit you can go to the old high school, as you say just for fun.
Yes, I might do that
For a moment, I thought I was looking at my yearbook. Everyone on that page looks so familiar :lol:Ed, you do know mini-dresses are back in style, right? You really need to get out more :pI don't really care to visit my High School again, but I would love to visit the primary school I attended. They have open house every January so maybe this coming year I'll remember to get there.Cool photos, thanks for sharing!

my best friend got ours out from college just the other day, we approach our 25th reunion- I remembered not walking to the hall for my Senior photo to be taken- and it still is not there! 😀 however, we found me on another page in a play. sounds like you enjoyed the roaming hall days, Ed. nice to have the heart to will to go back, a nice experience isn't always the case. cool styles, I remember those because of my brothers' friends…
Mini dressers? Would those be related to Minnie Driver?:P
@ Martin.:lol:Of course you know that pretty much screams out for a photo of Minnie Driver in a mini-skirt.But I think I'll pass. I don't like Minnie much. How about Kirsten Dunst in a mini-skirt?? Sort of a kirsten-skirt?

You are right, I really, really DO need to get out more. I'm going to try to go downtown Friday for the beginning of the Christmas stuff.I still like the mini-dresses. But now that I am a bit older I think I like the look of a nice stylish suit. :p
No way! You're just a young lass!:D

save for the ending, that might have been fun! but, no- a minor role in"whose life is it anyway?"
I saw the movie with Richard Dreyfus. Excellent movie!
I went for my twenty year reunion. It reminded me just how much I didn't fit in with that crowd. 🙄 .
I was invited to reunion some years ago, but I didn't go. Can't be arsed. I still see my friends from that time, well, those that are still in Denmark anyway, so why bother?

Yeah I know what you mean. I was kinda like that myself — a musical ragamuffin.
Martin we at Rare Exports are going to have to sit you down in a chair and "re-educate" you as to this whole reunion thing. :p
It's all about a bunch of forty year old, (mostly) married men flirting with the twenty year old waitress's to prove that they've still "got it" 🙄 .

I like Dreyfus, too. 🙂

I took my share of re-education. It was called psycho therapy. Skipped the hand-puppet part, though. When my therapist suggested it, I just looked at her with that certain look I am good at, and she didn't mention it again.

I went for a while, but they didn't have puppets. If they would have had puppets, or fluffy toys, I might have stuck with it. But different men have different views toward puppets. And of course I respect yours. 🙂
I thought enough of my one and only Yearbook, I threw it away when I moved from my mobile home to here. Not sure, but think my older brother may have retrieved it and kept it. Don't know, don't care. My boyfriend and most of my friends was in a school about 15 miles from Gilmer High School. I hung out with kids from Union Hill High School rather than my school.

@ Linda.Interesting how people are different about the whole school issue. But then, I'm sure that is true for everything. Except maybe happiness, most people want happiness. And air. Everybody wants air. Because the alternative is….
Air is what I desire most in the world, Edward. Or maybe new lungs.
I hear ya! :D:up:
What a 😎 post!
I decided to update my info on Facebook, finally after several years, and in doing so, I have access to everyone who graduated with me in Highschool. So, I did a search and the first person who appeared on this list was Paul. Couldn't believe it. I really didn't like most people in my school and hung out with people older and from a different town, but I always, kind of had a crush on Paul.Got brave and sent him a message, he wrote back same day, equally suprized to her from me and invited me as a friend. The freakin cute, hot guy I always imagined him to be is now gay, and lives with his parter in Hawaii. Go figure.
