It seems the owners of the Liquidator Store up
on Foothills Dr. here in Spokane finally lived
out their dream — they liquidated everything
in the store.
Although I don't think that it happened quite
the way they intended: evidently they liquidated
everything because they went out of business.

@ RichardOh yeah absolutely. And you know a couple of our local Dollar Stores have gone out of business as well. How bad is it when people can't even afford a dollar or two?:(

Well, our "dollar" stores merchandise is more like "5 dollars" now. They saturated Tyler with dollar stores—Dollar General and Family Dollar, and there is no way that they can generate enough business to keep all of them profitable.

Our railroad salvage store has been going out of business for the last seven or eight years. They've now painted signs that say, "Everything At Cost."So we have a ranch supply, a Walmart, four or five dollar stores, and several small chains and privately-owned boutiques into which no one can afford to walk. And an economic-development council whose main goal is to find enough funding to keep everyone on the council employed.

@ Star.Star you know when I was a kid there was this furniture store in Indianapolis, I think it was called Village Furniture. They would have commercials on television, and were it seems perpetually going out of business. In fact they went out of business year after year after year. Even my grandmother from Muncie got wise to it even just down visiting occasionally, and she would laugh at it. We all laughed at it.Ah, good times! Originally posted by Stardancer:
Here in Spokane the City Council will grant monies for these "feasibility studies" for projects that there's no way the city has money to do anyway. Senseless. I have a feeling there's something else going on there, like they are propping up these engineering and study firms. Which I have nothing against supporting our local engineers. But why not have them do something at least helpful, realistic?

BTW, my sister-in-law took me to the grocery store today, and just before we went home, she took me to the Basil Thai cafe to get a take out. I got coconut soup and Pad Thai noodles. Yummy.

I have been familiar with several businesses who were perpetually going out of business. And some of the stores have constant liquidation sales. There is a company been in business here for years called (usually) Jason's Oriental Rugs. It has been going out of business for many years now. What it does is move to another location after months and months of going out of business sales; then reopens and starts all over again with the going out of business spiel. Must think we're really stupid people in East Texas. And I guess we are as they are still in business! It's great to be out and about again on the OC Edward. Don't feel like being here as often, but will be every chance I get.

What do you mean, bug? The body who is plastering all those spam images there?

@ Linda. That almost sounds like there might have been some tax wheeler dealing going on with that rug store.BTW, I could use a new rug. Do they have a web site? :p Wow glad about your Thai carry out! You deserve it!

No, it's some sort of horrible music. I thought it was coming from some sort of virus on my computer and I searched all around. But then I realized that I had an Opera tab open to Angeliki's blog. I think it may be tied in with the Unsubscribe button.Did the same thing on my Blackberry. Had to open it up and pull the battery and reboot. I don't know exactly what it is, really. But be careful.

Well, I don't go to Angeliki's unless I see where she has left a comment, so I'll try to be careful.
