Not just one but two versions of Liliana Rose
singing the classic song "Wildwood Flower."
The second version is more of a dulcimer style
version, with the accompanying melody in the bass.
"Wildwood Flower"
(Traditional)
Oh I'll twine with my mingles and raven black hair,
With the roses so red and the lilies so fair,
And the myrtles so bright with the emerald dew,
The pale and the leader and eyes look like blue.
I will dance, I will sing, and my laugh shall be gay.
I will charm every heart in each crown I will sway.
When I woke from my dreaming my idols were clay.
All portion of love had all blown away.
Oh he taught me to love him and promised to love,
And to cherish me over all others above.
How my heart is now wondering no misery can tell.
He's left me, no warning, no words of farewell.
Oh he taught me to love him, and called me his flower
That was blooming to cheer him through life's dreary hour.
How I long to see him, and regret the dark hour.
He's gone and neglected his pale wildwood flower.

I could hardly notice the difference but I blame me being not a musician for that. Or just not good enough. I think Martin will notice.Sad song. Is it country folk song? I have never heard it before.

Yeah, country/bluegrass. Whatever, kind of hard to tell from that early era. I love the lyrics.Allan will notice also, he plays.

Nice find Ed. I think I like the first one better. It was smoother…or something. The second one sounds more bluegrass.

SUPPLEMENT"Whazzup?"
"Nothin. Just twining with my mingles."[Just amusing myself.]

She's nice, she sings well – but if I were to give advices I would ask her to memorize the lyrics in order to be able to look at the camera instead of the text.

SUPPLEMENTIf any of you were wondering about the line "Oh I'll twine with my mingles" (as I was), I found that the line is the variant line used by the Carter family. The original line from when the song was first written c. 1860 was "I'll twine 'mid the ringlets of my raven black hair."So basically it means that she is putting up her hair or perhaps taking down her hair, most likely braids. As far as the Carter family line, it might actually have a double meaning, the alternate meaning something like "work on my sewing/quilting" in addition to putting up her hair. But that's just a possibility, I don't know that for sure.
