I got to rehearsal out at the Music Center really early Monday night.
There was as yet nobody in the recital hall. I took out my violin and
sheet music and sat down and got in an hour of practice. But then I
got tired all of a sudden. So I took three chairs and lined them up in a
row. As I was lying across them I looked up at the ceiling at the lights
— still turned off at that point. I looked at the windows, at all the
chairs and music stands and the big tympani over in the corner, at the
several pianos that are there in the room.
All of it seemed familiar, and yet so wondrous strange. It was like a
fairy tale — one in which I am relearning to live.
Why did I have to refriend you Edward?
Refriend? I don't know. Nothing I myself did, I can assure you. I did send you a friend request for the new blog. But I don't think that would unfriend you for this one. Anyway, good to hear from you. I stopped by your place this morning. But no new posts, I didn't leave a Comment. Hope you doing okay!
I had the same feeling few years ago, when I was alone in a big gym because no one of my students arrived – it was a storm outside, streets were jammed but it felt so nice in there. I practised for a while then just sat there until the end of training.

Also, those quiet moments when you are alone and in peace with yourself, like detached from the rest of the world….
What a wonderful moment, Ed. So glad you got to experience it!

Have you ever practiced Zen meditation? I used to a long time ago. I found it helpful somehow to sit by water — a gurgling stream, a water fountain.

I'm sorry Star I have been remiss. Since I semi-retired from this blog I've been sort of getting my internet fix on Facebook. Most of the day-to-day stuff that I sometimes put here I now do there. I enrolled for violin lessons out at Holy Names Music Center. Actually have a lesson with my teacher (Claire Kebble) this afternoon in fact. They also have an orchestra out there called New Horizons. It basically consists of older people like me who decided they missed playing and wanted to get back into it. We will be having a concert at the end of May. If you want, you can follow all the hot fiddle action on Facebook. Just googleEdward Piercy Facebookand you should find it no problem. Also, here's the web site if you want to check it out. :)
@ Richard.Thanks! It's new, it's old, its nold. 🙂
No I didn't but most of Japanese martial arts have some connection with Zen, more or less 😀
I remember your garden photos.
Congrats on your upcoming concert, Edward!

What new blog would that be? I haven't been here much lately so apparently I've missed some things.
Never mind, I found it. Going to subscribe to it now.
Thanks! I will certainly blog that one.
Great to hear from you! Thanks.
